Magellanic Penguin Colony

Penguins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One day in Puerto Natales we hired some geezer and his car to take us up the straights of Magellan to a penguin colony. It was really windy but sunny when we got there. The colony was just inland from the sea so the penguins did a lot of waddling about in single file in a very penguinish manner. All rather amusing to watch. We got really close to them and they weren't really very scared. Suzie was very excited indeed, obviously.

After our exciting penguin excursion we flew back up to Santiago on our way north to the beaches, deserts and more volcanoes in the north of chile next to Peru. We stayed the night with Sylvin, Cendrine and little Paul. Just to show we did go out in Santiago, heres a couple of snaps from our excursion to the bars with Sylvin on election night. The whole city went mad and was driving round beeping horns and waving flags and stuff. There was confetti everywhere. Quite a cool party atmosphere though! Seems they like a party round there...
